Now it’s time to take our build to another level. Many developers are using things like less
, Sass
to build their stylesheets. Others use CoffeeScript
, BabelJS
or TypeScript
to build their JavaScript. Exactly those tasks are missing in our BaaS solution, so let’s add them.

This is also true for me. I found myself using yeoman to create new projects almost every day automatically. There are plenty of great generators available in the wild. Just visit the yeoman website
and discover the generator repository, it’s fantastic.

Before explaining the technical steps, let’s talk about the target. Over the past year I’ve seen so many different styles and approaches for writing and organizing Gulpfiles, but most of them share the same problem. Once you revisit the project and its gulpfile after a few weeks or months, you need much time for reading and understanding what gulp is doing in this particular project when executing
gulp default
or just
gulp
. To reduce this effort, I’ve outlined my idea of how to align tasks and how things should interact using a small mockup

Here at Thinktecture, we’re focusing on cross-platform apps, and we’re optimizing our development workflow continuously to push boundaries when it comes to development performance. I found myself again falling in love with creating fast and super awesome build processes. I want to use today’s lunchtime to write this short introduction post. So in the upcoming weeks, I’ll share some cool things around cross-platform builds. If you haven’t heard of Gulp.js, it could be a bit difficult to follow the series because I will not publish an introduction for Gulp.js. Do some research on Gulp.js to understand the critical concepts of Gulp.js.
