Slides and Samples from CodeCamp NYC

On Saturday I spoke at CodeCamp in New York. It has been the third CodeCamp NYC in a row for me. I like the community event in New York because I’m able to combine both, holding a session and visiting one of the greatest cities in the states.

Finally, I got a talk which wasn’t related to SharePoint 🙂 “ASP.NET MVC ❤ AngularJS.”

Most of the tips and hints I gave during this talk came from real-world customer projects which were built using that technology stack with only a few SharePoint integration points 🙂 So I could focus on the Angular and MVC WebAPI stuff.

Our SharePoint Power Hour from TechEd North America

Last week I was attending Microsoft’s TechEd North America in Houston Texas. Together with Jeremy Thake who has recently moved over to Redmond to work with the Microsoft Office Division (MOD) at Microsoft Corp, we’ve delivered the SharePoint Power Hour. Some of you guys may already know this Session Topic from Build conference.

However, compared Rob Howard’s version from Build 2014, Jeremy and I decided to go for the most recent release of Office 365 API’s which have been shipped last Monday during TechEd Keynote.

As every year, SPC14 was a blast. It was amazing to connect with all the guys and girls from the SharePoint world. During this post, I’m not going to summarize the SPC, so this post is only providing the content from my talk (#SPC417). First and most important are the demos.

Demos

All my demos are available for free on GitHub, so go and check out https://github.com/ThorstenHans/SPC417
, regarding ShareCoffee in common, you should check out the ShareCoffee landing page at https://sharecoffee.github.io

Speaking at SharePoint Conference 2014 in Vegas

The biggest and best conference about SharePoint, Microsoft’s SharePoint Conference takes again place in Las Vegas from 3rd till 6th of March 2014. I’m glad to announce that Experts Inside delivers two sessions next year in Vegas.

To see the entire list of session check out the #SPC14 website at http://www.sharepointconference.com/content/sessions
Within an in-depth dive developer session I’ll explain how to speed up your App Development for SharePoint using API abstractions. In detail, I’ll show the benefits of my Open-Source-Framework ShareCoffee and how you can take the best benefits from using such frameworks.

Top 14 SPC14 Sessions announced

As most SharePoint addicted people already may know, SharePoint Conference 2014
takes place in Las Vegas again starting on 3rd March 2014.

So far nothing new, but the conference team has just published the Top 14 sessions. Most interesting for me will be the ‘Developing on-premises solutions with an eye on the future’ from the development track.

At Experts Inside we’re currently doing most of our projects within Office 365, but there are still some customers who don’t want to join the cloud. So this session looks promising to me because I’m often faced with questions like ‘What will happen if we go for full-trust solutions’.

ShareCamp 2013 in Vienna

On September the 7th the first ShareCamp in Vienna was celebrated by Austrian SharePoint Community. About 60 SharePoint addicted people came to Vienna, to spend a Saturday in Microsoft Austria’s HQ.

Traditionally the ShareCamp was opened with the session building. Within 30 minutes the attendees formed the entire conference schedule with round about 25 sessions.

The sessions were covering different topics from SharePoint Migration to App Development and from Windows 8 in Enterprises to SkyDrive. Audience discussions popping up during the talks was exciting. Both Speakers and Attendees discussed various topics directly in the session. This is one essential aspect of BarCamps.

Developer Week 2013 — Quick recap

I’m just on my way back from ‘Developer Week 2013’, which is — with more than 1000 attendees — one of the biggest german developer conferences.

I did two talks on SharePoint development. Inspecting the entire session catalog, I noticed that these are the only talks focusing SharePoint which was a little bit frustrating but also challenging on the other side.

You can grab the slides from my first talk ‘New SharePoint APIs’ here
.

DotNetDay Franken — Review and Slides

About a week ago I did a presentation on SharePoint’s new App Model to give developers a rough introduction into the new age of SharePoint development.

.NET Day Franken  - one of the coolest german community conferences  - was celebrated for the 4th time in Nürnberg Germany. It was also the 4th time that I was invited as a speaker, so it’s great to see how the conference is growing and becoming a must-join event for every community member in Germany.

After participating in the successful fourth edition of our ShareCamp in Munich, we’re now going to add more ShareCamps in different venues.

The upcoming ShareCamp will take place in Microsoft Austria’s headquarter in Vienna on 9th of September. Save the date and visit our ShareCamp Austria site
and sign in.

Registration opens now, and we’re currently limited to 75 attendees. So, hurry up and register for the 5th ShareCamp. As every time, attending a ShareCamp is free. We’re also scheduling a ShareCamp Party on Saturday evening. As soon as new information about the party is available, I’ll keep you updated. I want to say thank you to the entire organization-crew, without the great orga-team it would be impossible to schedule such an event.

ShareCamp 2013 recap

Last weekend we did our fourth ShareCamp at Microsoft’s German headquarter in Munich (Unterschleißheim). The ShareCamp is not a typical conference; it’s a BarCamp, BarCamps typically have no schedule until the conference starts. Every attendee can submit sessions, discussions or Hands-On Workshops.

Therefore it’s great for people who’d never spoken at huge, favorite conferences. The entire audience votes for the session proposals and depending on these votes sessions are moved to bigger or smaller rooms. (More information on BarCamps can be found here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BarCamp
).

Windows Azure Global Bootcamp

Since global availability of SharePoint 2013, Azure is getting more and more critical for SharePoint and SharePoint Online. As a developer, you can create Apps for SharePoint using Azure as the platform for your custom website, which will interact with your SharePoint instance.

Therefore almost every SharePoint dev should be familiar with Windows Azure and it services. Microsoft Azure MVPs and the Microsoft Azure community are organizing a global BootCamp for Azure on 27th of April 2013.
